Airplane Model
Overview
Reverse engineer an airplane model with realistic dimensions in SolidWorks to create a 1:1 scale version. Sketching a 3-D model to demonstrate proficiency in the SolidWorks program by incorporating a variety of design intent without utilizing any surfacing techniques.

Design Process
Stage One - Taking Measurements
The model is taken apart into pieces to take precise measurement by using a caliper. The measurements are later noted down before creating the sketch in SolidWorks.
Stage Two - Designing Body
Using spline to sketch the exact dimension, taken from caliper measurement, on half of the airplane's body before it is mirrored across its centerline. Multiple boss extrude, cut extrude, fillets, revolves were used on all three planes of the sketch to make the curvature of the plane's body.

Stage Three - Designing Propeller and Engine
The propeller was made by creating four reference planes before it is lofted and flexed to create a twisted look. Then, the three symmetrical blade was made by using the revolve and circular pattern feature around the center. Three circle sketches were created then extruded to create the general shape of the engine. Then fillets were used on the edge of the sketch to create the curve aesthetic. The fan blade in the engine is made by sketching on the right-side before circular pattern is applied to it.

Stage Four - Designing Seat and Landing Gear
Extrusion was used on multiple planes of the seat's sketch to create the curvature on the model. For the landing gear, several extruded cuts were made after it has been boss extruded on all three planes to create its look. For harder sections to extrude, reference planes were added to simplified the process.

Stage Five - Designing Wheel and Wheel Bolt
Five circle sketches of various diameters were made on the front plane before the extrusion feature was applied on the different circles of the wheel. Fillet were used to create the curve of the wheel. For the wheel bolt, two sketch of circle were extruded to create the curve aesthetic. Both of these parts were later filleted on the edges. After completing the airplane sketch, an assembly was made shown in the outcome section.
